July 4th Closure

PNCT will be closed on Friday July 4th. PNCT will reopen at 0600 on Monday July 7th.

 

Safety Notice - Reflective Vests Enforcement- Effective 1/8/2007

 


It is the policy of the terminal operator that all workers and guests shall wear reflective vests or other suitable reflective apparel whenever exposed to the hazards presented by vehicular traffic moving in terminal traffic lanes or at other locations.

 

This policy applies equally to any commercial motor vehicle operator who chooses, for any reason, to leave the safety and protection of his/her tractor cab or who chooses to leave the confines of any established pedestrian protection zone.

 

Violators of this policy shall receive a warning on the occasion of their first infraction. Thereafter violators risk the imposition of stricter consequences, which include the suspension of terminal entry privileges.

Speed Limit Enforcement – Attention All PNCT Terminal Customers

 

As of December 15, 2006

Due to continued violations of our terminal policy that restricts all drivers to a maximum speed of 15 mph, beginning immediately we will be voiding any drivers who exceed this speed limit.

Once voided, the driver will not be allowed back to PNCT for that day. Repeated violations of this policy will result in the individual driver being banned from our terminal.

It is essential that you inform all of your staff of this policy. There will be no exceptions.

Panama and Maracaibo Streets are Closed to Through Traffic



Please be Aware: Effective immediately Panama and Maracaibo Streets are Closed to Through Traffic.  The Port Authority Police will be enforcing this operation.

To all employees and visitors to Port Newark Container Terminal.  Please be advised that as of November 12, 2007 we now have a Private Vehicle Entrance to our facility.  It is located at the end of Mohawk StreetTo access this entrance, when traveling Eastbound on Tyler Street make a Right onto Mohawk Street. 

Continue straight and you will see a guard booth and boom gates.  Please stop at the entrance gate where you will see an intercom to talk to the guard.

Online Guarantee Requests

Effective Monday October 30, 2006, PNCT will only process Guarantee requests (Demurrage, VACIS and all other fees) via our Online system.

If you have a credit account with PNCT, you can now guarantee demurrage or exam charges via the web. Now Available

This feature allows:

- Easy form submission
- Tracking status (request number)
- Receive copy and acknowledgement confirmation
- Eliminate faxes



Pickup Instructions – Notice to All PNCT Customers


Effective Monday, July 3, 2006, truckers arriving at PNCT to pick up an empty or full container must use one of the following options:

1. Use of steamship line chassis that matches the steamship line of the container being picked up.

2. Use of a METRO POOL chassis provided the steamship line of the container being picked up is a user of the METRO POOL.

3. Trucker owned equipment

Steamship lines chassis can no longer be considered "OWN" chassis for the purpose of picking up full or empty containers. The terminal will no longer accept "foreign equipment" (CO-OP chassis or any other steamship line chassis that does not match the container being picked up) that is intended to be used to pick up containers.

This policy does not affect export or empty container receiving moves (single move - drop off only).



Payment Policy – Demurrage, Exams, Redelivery and Any Ancillary Charges

For customers who DO NOT have credit with PNCT, payments by business checks for amounts over $500 will NOT be accepted.
Charges due that exceed $500 must be paid at time of service by:

- Certified bank check
- US Postal money order
- Credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD)
- Wire transfer
- COMCHEK

For credit customers who have an account with PNCT, guarantees and business checks will be accepted for charges due up to $1,500 per container. If charges due exceed $1,500 per container, then NO guarantee will be accepted for that container and the entire amount must be paid at the time of service by:

- Certified bank check
- US Postal money order
- Credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD)
- Wire transfer
- COMCHEK
